Common Admission Test(CAT): Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the toughest and highly valued management exam conducted jointly by the IIMs(Indian Institute of Management) in India.

CAT is first and foremost way to enter into the six reputed IIMs of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozikode and Lucknow for Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management.

Also many other Non IIMs Institution(for detail visit to  http://www.catiim.in) also use the CAT score mandatory for selection of post graduate Management courses.

Schedule:This reputed exam held in the month of November generally second last Sunday of November, once in a year.

Eligibility: Candidate must hold a Bachelor Degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA for the general candidate and for the other (SC/ ST/ PWD) candidate minimum marks must be 45% or equivalent CGPA. And the degree must be recognized by UGC or Ministry of HRD or Government of India. The institution which does not have the scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, IIM follow the rule of converting CGPA by dividing the obtained CGPA with the maximum CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100 .

Candidate appearing for the final year exam and awaiting for the result can also apply for CAT but they have to produce the certificate that the candidate is in final year and awaiting for final results and has obtained at least 50% marks (for SC/ST/PWD 45% marks) till the latest available grades.

Nature of Test & Subjects of Test : Common Admission Test (CAT) is a objective type test in multiple–choice answer mode and 1/4 negative mark for every wrong answer.

Examinations of CAT is a vast coverage in Quantitative, Verbal and Reasoning areas of testing.Test Subjects generally consists of 4 subjects- 1)Verbal Ability 2) Data Interpretation 3) Reading Comprehension . 4)Logical Reasoning .

Ever year, changes are also made in the total number of questions and the time duration for the CAT examination.

Normally duration is of 120 minutes and CAT examination question varies between 75 and 150. Only those candidates, who secure sufficiently high marks, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview by the IIMs .
